On Thursday 20th November we had another ‘home’ Match, this time against teams from Swanspool, Wellingborough.
Saxons ‘A’ took control of their game right from the start, winning six of the first seven ends. With scores of 4 shots in the fifth end and 5 shots in the sixth putting them well in the lead, at 13 shots to only 1 from Swanspool, it was a great opening. Swanspool then won six of the last nine ends, but never scored higher than a 2, and were unable to make much impression on Saxon’s huge lead. The game finished with a good Saxon win by 18 shots to 8.
In the other game Saxons ‘B’ started steadily, taking five of the first eight ends, and leading at that point by 6 shots to 4. Then a nice score of 4 shots in the ninth end took them into a bigger, more comfortable lead of 10 to 4. After that, although both sides more or less shared the remaining ends, with each team scoring 5 more shots, Saxons stayed on top and won the game by 15 shots to 9.
Saxons ‘A’ won by 18 – 8
Saxons ‘B’ won by 15 – 9
Saxons won overall, 33 to 17
Team A : Carole Bourne, Ann Cook, Kathy Marshall, Chris Selling
Team B : Anna Davies, John Riddell, Roger Bond, Roger Gill
