Another win for Saxons this week in our ‘home’ match against teams from Redwell ( Wellingborough ), but by the smallest of margins. The match could so easily have gone either way, but we took the win overall by just 1 shot !

At the start of their game, Saxons ‘A’ were ‘slow out of the blocks’ and were trailing their Redwell opponents up until the ninth end, when the score was 4 to 9 in favour of the visitors. A win in the tenth end for Saxons then seemed to trigger a tremendous comeback, with Saxons going on to win six of the last seven ends, two of them by 4 shot margins, and coming out on top at 19 shots to 10.

On the other mat, Saxons ‘B’ managed to stay just ahead of their opposition until the seventh end, when the score was 5 – 4 to Saxons. However Redwell won the next three ends, making 3 shots in the eighth end, and 5 shots in the tenth, the highest scores recorded in this otherwise low-scoring game and leading at that point by 13 shots to 5.
Saxons kept trying hard, but despite sharing the last six ends evenly, with each team winning three of them, and scoring 4 shots each, Saxons were unable to close the gap, and Redwell won the game by 17 shots to 9.
