On Thursday 23rd January 2025 Saxons played a ‘home’ match ‘ against Barton Seagrave.

Saxons ‘A’ ‘s game on mat one started well, with Saxons winning three of the first four ends to lead by 5 shots to 1 at that point. They then went on to steadily win the next five ends also, building up a good lead, by 11 to 1. Somehow Barton Seagrave got a big win of 5 shots on the tenth end, which might have given them some thought of a revival at 11 to 6. But Saxons put paid to that idea by winning every end from then on, quite a few of them by 3 or 4 shots, sending their score rocketing into the high twenties, without reply. In fact, Barton Seagrave managed to win two of the sixteen ends played, and went down to a triumphant Saxons ‘A’ team by a score of 28 shots to 6.

Saxons ‘B,’ on mat two, found it much harder to establish themselves in their game, despite leading 2 shots to 1 after three ends, and after losing the next four ends in a row found themselves behind by 2 shots to 7. However they kept doing their best to score, and worked hard to not only make a comeback but eventually go on to win all but two of the last nine ends. With the scores level at 10 shots each after the thirteenth end, team spirit and determination led to three more hard-earned wins for Saxons ‘B’ and saw them coming out on top, in the end,  by 14 shots to 10.
