result of the match played against redwell away - thursday 11th january 2024
On Thursday 11th January, 2024 we played an ‘Away’ match against Redwell, in Wellingborough. They chose to play 18 ends.
Saxons ‘A’ team, playing on Mat 1, had an up-and-down start in their game, winning only two of the first eight ends, each by 1 shot, so that after eight ends they were 11 – 2 down.
Fortunately, a couple of big Saxon wins by 5 shots and 4 shots in the next two ends brought them up level with the Redwell team. To their credit, Saxons kept trying and won five of the final eight ends, including another huge score of 6 shots, and won by 21 shots to 15 in the end.
On Mat 2 the Saxons ‘B’ team began quite well, scoring steadily by just one or two shots, for the first seven ends, so that the score at that point was
8 – 0 to us. Although Redwell managed to win the next end, Saxons went on gathering momentum, scoring a little more highly and also keeping Redwell shut out, so that Redwell only won two of the last eight ends.
This game finished with a comfortable Saxon win by 25 shots to 5.
Saxons won overall, then, by 46 to 20
Team A : Jeanette Statham, Ann Cook, Linda Gill, Roger Gill
